As VP of Marketing at VTS, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about some of the most innovative ways our customers utilize our tenant engagement platform, VTS Activate. From hosting art auctions to in-app scavenger hunts, we’re constantly intrigued by the original ways customers leverage the platform and create an exciting app experience that keeps tenants engaged. To inspire your upcoming tenant programming, here are recent examples of creative uses of our highly configurable content builder in VTS Activate.
Transform Your Lobby Into an Art Studio
One of our customers hosted a silent art auction and an art pop-up event powered by VTS Activate. Art pieces were showcased before and during the event so interested buyers could bid and purchase items in-app—all powered by the no-code builder.
- Silent art auction: Art pieces for the auction were featured on signage in the building lobby, along with QR codes to provide in-app information about the work of art, artist, and allowed people to place bids. Admins were able to see the highest bidder on the app's admin portal and announce the winner with a push notification.
- Art pop-up: The art pop-up event displayed works of art by several different artists in the building lobbies with an accompanying QR code that drove people to an experience within the app. The client also set up an in-app experience for each artist, allowing them to charge and collect payment for their art. That way, tenants could explore and purchase the different pieces of art without leaving the app.
Keep Tenants Engaged and on Their Toes
Customers frequently use our no-code content builder to provide imaginative ways of interacting with tenants, such as photo contests, raffles, and in-app scavenger hunts or trivia.
- Photo contests: Leverage the content builder to run creative photo contests to engage tenants. Contests can be hosted entirely within the app or have a blend of in-app and in-person event touchpoints. A fun, seasonal example is to host a pumpkin carving contest in-app, showcase the results, ask users to vote for their favorite, and even annouce the winner in your branded app!
- Raffles: Raffles are an exciting way to drive app engagement throughout the year or during an event. Customers have found success hosting raffles at adoption events, where everyone who downloads and signs into the app within the week of launch can be eligible to win a prize. Admins can pull the active-members list from the app's admin portal and announce the winner with an in-app post. This is an excellent strategy for launch events to increase adoption, especially when there are high-value prizes and incentives.
- In-app scavenger hunts or trivia: Encourage tenants to explore and learn more about your property with scavenger hunts or a trivia contest. Create a post that features either a scavenger hunt throughout the building or have tenants answer trivia questions about the property and submit answers within a post. Property teams can review answers, select a winner, and announce them in-app.
Make Anything Bookable
Giving tenants a simple way to make reservations in-app saves time and elevates their experience with your offerings and services. Anything can feel like an amenity when it’s reserved in-app and ready for tenants when they want it.
- Reserve gym classes: Customers have found success encouraging tenants to use the app to reserve their spots for fitness classes. This allows admins to track how many people are attending classes and manage numbers. One client implemented a no-show policy using in-app QR code scanning for recurring fitness classes, which enabled a larger group attendance and the ability to offset the usual no-shows.
- Reservable umbrellas: Looking for a simple way to add a hospitality-like experience in your building? A VTS Activate customer loaned umbrellas to tenants and made them easy to reserve in-app.
- Chair massages: Trying to incorporate more wellness initiatives? Customers have used Activate’s reservable feature, which allows tenants to easily book time slots for chair massages or other similar events.
Support Your Retailers and Local Community
An important way a number of our customers use the Activate content builder is to highlight in-building retailers and the local community or neighborhood.
- Retail spotlight: Many customers highlight a perk or vendor to share with tenants in the building, which encourages tenants to use the on-site retailers and realize the specialized building offers.
- Support local artists: One client created in-app content to support local artists and include where their art could be purchased.
- Charity program: Customers also create posts to highlight charity and donation initiatives supporting local community needs, such as school drives, food banks, fundraising efforts, and more.
